It is raining outside, but it’s warm in my house. The furnace is running and it finally feels like fall!  Last night marked the end of harvest for us. The gardens and the fields have been gathered in and I am so thankful. With the wet spring and old equipment and busy schedule I wasn’t so sure we would have a great harvest but we have.

I feel like maybe we’re finally getting into a bit of a groove here at the Hilltop Academy, it’s a pretty bumpy groove but we are starting to find our way around. I have a lot of work to do in getting chores delegated, meals plans made and adjusting schedules so everyone can get their work done including me. It is a very different way to home educate than I am used to. Some of the kids have already completed sections of their required work.

When I can squeeze it in I am sewing dolls. I have an Etsy shop open and while I haven’t had any orders through there, I have had a couple through here on The Crazy Grace Store tab.  My dear Allume friends please note that you can save the shipping if you order now. I will bring your doll and deliver it in person! I only have two that are coming with me so far so there’s lots of room for more Beauties to have some suitcase time together!!

I have been busy canning and what have you, being Suzy Homemaker! I like having lots of pretty jars of food lining my cold room walls. Every year I make salsa…and we eat a LOT of it. As promised, I am posting my recipe (yes, I do use one, though I play around with it a little every year). I didn’t create this recipe I got it form my sister-in-law. Anyways, it is really tasty and I love it and so do the people who buy my salsa every year…seriously, they start checking in August to see if I’ll have some! 🙂

Lani’s Amazing Salsa (with my notes!)
8 cups chopped tomatoes (I use Roma tomatoes but you can use other kinds, it will be more juicy)
1 tsp crushed red pepper (or you can experiment with different types of hot peppers)
5 cups chopped sweet peppers (this is equivalent to 5 peppers, I use a variety of colours to make it pretty!)
2 cups chopped onion (about 3 medium sized onions or 1 really big one!)
4 cloves minced garlic (I buy the big jars of pre-minced garlic from Costco it saves a heap of time, 4 cloves is 2 tsp of that stuff)
1 11oz can of tomato paste
1 1/2 cups of vinegar
2 tbsp of sugar
1 tbsp of salt
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp oregano

Bring that to a boil and then let it simmer until it’s the consistency you like. While it is simmering I wash up all my jars and put them in the oven to sterilize (200 degrees), get my lids and rings ready to go and then, when everything is hot I fill the jars and I’m all done! It’s ready to eat and so very yummy on eggs, tacos, with chips…

What other news is there? I am planning to do 31 days with The Nester…crazy I know, however, I think I am going to actually finish writing the novel I started last year…so if you don’t already, you might want to subscribe to this blog and you’ll miss nary a chapter.

That’s about it! Oh yes, my Etsy shop is called: TheCrazyGraceStore. You can order Button Beauties through there or here on The Crazy Grace Store tab.

Did I mention I am going to Allume in a month!!!!! I am just a little excited about that.

Blessings, have a wonderful day. It was nice to catching up, what have you been up to?
