Really, whose pants are you wearing?
Do they fit well? Like they were made for you or are they too tight, too short, too long, too loose, wrong color?
All our lives someone is trying to hand us a pair of pants that aren’t necessarily ours to wear.
We may take them and hold them up with a belt or squish into them and hope you don’t have to sneeze and we soldier on.
That isn’t the way it was meant to be.
You know when you hit that sweet spot. When you find a pair that doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything. The kind that bend and stretch and move with you and don’t need hitching up or rolling up or pulling down…
God has a pair of pants for you.
They don’t look or feel like anyone else’s.
It doesn’t matter if your sister was academic and the family expects you to carry on.
It doesn’t matter if all the men in your family were janitors so you are expected to be one, too.
It doesn’t matter that all the people of a certain ethnic origin always are part of this club.
It doesn’t matter if every other pastor’s wife the church has ever had led that committee.
It doesn’t matter if your mother was a creative genius and you can’t color in the lines.
God made you…you!
You have a role to fill.
There is enough room in the sky for every single star and He expects you to shine.
He has made a pair of pants for you and they are going to fit perfectly.
Get rid of all those other pairs that people have tried to give you that just don’t fit.
Hold your head high and do what you were created to do.
And give others freedom to do the same.
