I have to admit I picked Stealing the Preacher because of the title. It caught my interest and I decided to review it even though I’m not much of a romance reader. I do like things set in history and Stealing the Preacher is in the heart of the wild west and my husband is a pastor, so I was intrigued. Karen Whitemeyer does a good job of spinning a tale that keeps you turning pages. This is a tale of redemption and a long love in one direction, risk-taking and obedience to the call on one’s life.
Joanna Robbins wants to see redemption come to her ex-outlaw daddy, a desire and torch passed down to her from her mother. Crockett Archer is a rancher turned preacher hoping for a pulpit, he finds one, but not in your typical fashion. Silas Robbins turned honest to please his bride but has no love for those who call themselves ‘preacher’. Joanna and Crockett aim to change his mind and his heart.
There are a few twists and a predictable happy ending but I think you’ll find that Stealing the Preacher is a very pleasant read.
