Journeys: The Long and Short

The Long of it…

On Saturday we got to go and witness the joining of two very happy hearts. I’ve known that girl since she was a camper in my cabin a couple of decades ago. It was a long road to get to where she stood on Saturday becoming a Mrs.

We hugged and chatted with ¬†friends who we’ve journeyed with for a very long time. It is good to be known. To not have to come up with conversation. To have old jokes and new ones. To know that Joe has come a long way now that he eats peas AND carrots! To shock people sitting across from us when he finds out we have 18 kids between the three of us.

Living long with people wasn’t part of my growing up but I am thankful it is part of my now.

We will rejoin that community that our hearts never left and that is a very good thing. It is nice to know that they are looking forward to us coming.

Finding another soul at that wedding who prayed with me before any of those 18 showed up so that there would be 1 and she spoke hope into my weary soul because she read it behind the words on these posts. Could see what I wasn’t saying and called it what it was and said there was a way out and handed me a gift that was more precious than any sitting so prettily wrapped on that table.

It was a good day even though my soul just wanted to crawl under a table and disappear.

The Short of It…

Today I am embarking on an adventure with my girls. We don’t have a destination in mind, we are just going to get in the van with some blankets and pillows and some buns and head off. A roll of the dice will tell us how long we’ll travel and a paper in a bowl will determine which way. We are adventure bound and that’s a good thing.

We’re going to go create some memories. We’ll let you know how it turns out.

Thursday we will be back to talk about Chapter 3 in Spiritual Whitespace…would you pray it gets found in the next few days!!
