Life is often disappointing.
We desire something but it is delayed or denied and we are disappointed. Hope flies and we are left standing empty.
I am sure I am not alone in my familiarity with disappointment. It might be as simple as missing the bus or as deep as the longing for a child to hold.
In spite of the disappointments we feel we crave hope. We want to hold on to something.
God’s heart is to meet us in the midst of our heartbreaking disappointment and to walk us through to the other side. Is He Santa Claus that we can shake down for the latest toy? No. Psalm 37:4 almost makes it seem like it though.
“Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
However, the whole focus of that chapter is the Lord – focusing on Him, trusting Him, committing ourselves to Him. When our desires are aligned with His purposes, He fulfils them.
Today, let’s do this one thing. Let’s hold on to HOPE, it is what we crave in the very deepest parts of ourselves. Fix your eyes on Him.
Have a listen to this song by for King & Country. It has walked me through many dark days.
Sometimes disappointment looks like leaving behind all that’s familiar and comfortable…
