About Lani

With six kids, a farm, a ministry and dreams poking out in every direction I need plenty of grace to keep all the balls in the air. The sweet thing is that when I drop them, that crazy grace of God is there telling me I'm still okay...and you are, too...welcome to this place of grace.

Discouraged/Encouraged…A conversation with myself

I sit and have a conversation with myself. Trying to talk myself into a better state of mind. This mind that has struggled to be sound and joyful for the last five years and so often failing to muster up good thoughts. When things get overwhelming or the fatigue threatens to drown me I […]

Recalibrate

To calibrate something means that you adjust it to meet a standard. Therefore, recalibrate means to bring something back to the standard; to re-adjust. My daughter has to do this constantly with her violin. It isn’t a very good one so it goes out of tune easily. Went she’s all calibrated the music is sweet […]

CONTINUE…the ‘one word’ for 2017

It was a dark and stormy night up in the mountains. The new year was almost upon me and I still hadn’t found my ‘one word’ for the year. There had been a few auditions but nothing was really cutting it. The next day I decided I’d start working on my new planner while the […]

A Piece of the Puzzle

It was a three-puzzle Christmas. One didn’t get completed. We’ll have to break it out when we get home. Puzzles have been a theme in my world since the middle of November. It started at the Belong Summit. Puzzle pieces were the theme of the decorations, reminding the participants that we each have a part […]

May I recommend…

Did you know I write many posts in my head every single week? Of course not, because they rarely make it here where you could see them. Obviously, you don’t live in my head, which is probably a good thing. In my head I write about supporting families who are raising kids with invisible disabilities, […]

The unfinished…

We live in a world of unfinished. I love completed projects and yet feelings of satisfaction war with the sadness of saying goodbye to a project. Every project is a process of blossoming ideas, the work of designing, creating and all the labor and love that it takes to complete. There are pieces of […]

I Am Not That Girl…I’m This One

I am a vase, fashioned by the creator. I am covered in blue, green and yellow swirls. I exist to hold life giving water and to display beauty. For the glory of His splendour. – my journal, spring, 1999 My last week was filled with wonderful women. I went to volunteer at an emerging organization, […]

Recycling 7’s

I wrote this post a long time ago, back in my Fresh Flowers days where it seems I had a lot more that I was willing to say in the blog-o-sphere than I am now.  It popped up as a ‘memory’ in my Facebook feed and as I read it I was reminded me of […]
